RJTR has been selected to serve in the role of the Implementation Architect for Extended Stay of America’s national prototype rollout program. Selected through a competitive process, RJTR was charged with taking the prototype design concepts prepared by a nationally known architectural fi rm and completing all design documentation. The end goal was to develop a product which fi t into an extremely aggressive cost model serving ESA’s needs as they embarked on their fi rst corporate construction program in over a decade. As a part of the overall ESA brand transformation, they intended to sell franchises for the fi rst time in their history and as such, needed a concise set of prototype construction documents with which to sell the brand. The typical ESA prototype hotel takes the form of a 120 key, 4 story structure. Designed to be extremely effi cient, the hotel contains a limited array of public areas, including a living room, fi tness center, and a guest laundry. The hotel also contains an extremely economical back of house area which allows the hotel to be operated by a total of a dozen staff. Following completion of the consolidated prototype drawing set, RJTR is currently working on the fi rst two hotels of the program in Chandler, AZ and Bluffton, SC, with an additional fi fteen properties in the pipeline for 2018.
