Winner: Hospitality Design Magazine: 2016 Overall Midscale Hotel and Public Spaces
The renovation of the Loews Minneapolis Hotel revitalized and reconnected the ground floor spaces by knocking down walls and opening up the existing restaurant and bar to the entryway in order to create a new, inviting lobby lounge and bar that greets guests as they enter the hotel. This new “living room” of the hotel provides a lively and intimate space where guests can relax, watch the game on the large media wall, or enjoy a cocktail, beer, or locally-inspired cuisine. The newly interconnected plan allows the spaces to become much more engaging and more cohesive as a whole, and one that guests can truly make their own. In the upper “library” lounge, a small fireplace adds intimacy and warmth. Custom blackened steel and stone reception desks showcase local craftsmanship and welcome guests into the check-in area, along with a custom Minneapolis-inspired art mural. The project was honored to receive awards for both Midscale Hotel and Midscale Public Spaces for the 2016 Hospitality Design Awards.
